| Hillsborough is in a shocking state at the moment - im not talking about rubbish or graffiti or rivers - im talking about the shops!!!
There are far too many estate agents in Hillsborough!!
If you look at Hillsborough a few years ago, the shop units in Hillsborough precinct were all taken, the shops along middlewood road in hillsborough were all taken but now there are less and less.
There are 2 empty units in the precinct and the numerous empty shops on Middlewood Road.
What shops have gone - Its a Gift, Locksmiths, Sweet shop, Crystal shop, Kwik Save, Net shop, Mens clothes shop on Hillsborough Corner, Shops on Hillsborough corner, Shelter charity shop, kids clothes shop, fancy dress shop, clothes shop near Natwest - Can anybody name anymore?
There are also new shops that are closing aswell - the new clothes shop that is at the side of where its a gift was!!
Hillsborough is in a mess and needs some new and exciting shops!!

| True. But if we get new shops, we need to be sure to support them. | |

| Im always going down hillsborough to browse, but recently have been put off by the shops closing.
I would definetely support new shops.

| Sorry wasn't around to see Hillsb before the tram came, but I must say I love Hillsborough and sing its praises to anyone who'll listen. Yeah Ok it has more than its fair share of discount clothes shops and unused premises, but it's got two greengrocers, a champion fishmonger, and four, FOUR butchers. So many places now can't boast even one of each of those. it also has a library, a park, the amazing walled garden (my favourite place), a leisure centre, decent chippies, a vet, two surgeries, bakers, cafes, fabric shop, florists... need I go on? I love shopping in Hillsborough, in the current climate of supermarket takeover I feel very lucky to have Hillsb on my doorstep. With a supermarket too, for when I really need to swallow my principles and buy cheap tins! So let's not say it's a ghost town, let's focus on what it *does* have, and encourage more people to use it, and not drive off to Tesco or somewhere. | |

| [ps] Oh yes, I'd forgotten the locksmith, shame about that closing I heard it was personal rather than business reasons for closing, mind... (Heard it from the butcher, actually - don't get that in Morrisons! ) | |
